Is sound trapped in Time?
The clock starts ticking at its usual speed, yet sound tries to play around it, trying to rebel from its constant pace. The tension is building, sound can’t escape and a void swallows everything only to reveal that sound, even played backwards, needs time to live and within time, it also dies.
Pamela Soria is a Mexican pianist, composer and professor.
She has taught at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico since 2011, yet she has also given lectures about music analysis, been assistant recording engineer at Palacio de Bellas Artes Concert Hall in Mexico and she tries to find time to compose music for commercial projects as well as for the academic repertoire.
She currently lives and works in Mexico City, where the pandemic gave her some time to produce the pieces kindly showcased here.
