Finalist piece at femfestival 2021 – Winner of the Special Orchestra Prize

This piece was composed in 2021. It is for mezzosoprano and orchestra and it was inspired by a poem from a region in the north-east of Iran. In composing this piece, in order to convey the musical ideas and the emotional background there was in the poem, I used different techniques of folk music and materials of contemporary music.
When I decided to compose this piece, I considered the difficulties that some women face with all around the world which is a high-pressure environment and I tried to show this situation through various sections of the piece: composition is an incredible outlet for me. Hoordokht is so a symbol of females who have who endeavour to reach their goals despite the difficulties and demonstrate their abilities to the world.
